Trade Winds

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies came out as the big winners getting catcher Victor Martinez and pitcher Cliff Lee respectively. The Yankees only traded for Jerry Hairston Jr., for versatility while the Mets stood idle and didn't make any moves. One would think after the Mets train-wrecked press conference that they would make some trades to put the team back in contention? Highly talked about Jarrod Washburn went to the Detroit Tigers, while the Jays most prized possession, Roy Halladay, didn't go anywhere. A lot of baseball executives said Halladay's asking price was too high. Until then, see ya at the park! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Back on Track

It seems after the wild and strange press conference Monday, the Mets are back to playing baseball and winning. Finally! Many sports media outlets think the Mets have finally turned the page after a hectic week of finger-pointing and verbal shots. Let's hope this is all true? It's time for baseball and not a soap opera. I must admit I thought I was watching "As The World Turns." With that, Omar Minaya better get to the waiver wire and start making some trades and turn this team around. Until then, see ya at Citifield! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

The Mets Train Wreck

Now it is official -- the Mets are not a train wreck waiting to happen, but one. The Mets press conference today with GM Omar Minaya turned into a circus. Too much drama. Too much dirty laundry. It is time for Minaya to go and a further investigation into his comments about Daily News writer Adam Rubin lobbying for a front office job with the Mets. If it is true that Rubin lobbied for a job? Then there is much more to the story than we know. This circus today only made the Mets look foolish. Time for the Wilpons to take control of their team and bring in new leadership. I am sure this is not the last of word of the Minaya vs. Rubin fiasco. The Mets are a shame. The Mets need help. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Perfection

Mark Buehrle threw a Thursday afternoon delight -- a perfect game. Buehrle (11-3) went 27 up, 27 down against the Tampa Bay Rays who put it in jeopardy after Gabe Kapler whacked one destined to go over the wall, but was snatched by White Sox centerfielder DeWayne Wise. Joining the ranks of 15 pitchers who achieved greatness -- including Don Larsen, Cy Young, Sandy Koufax, etc. -- Buehrle also threw a no-hitter in 2007. If anything, it made for a great Thursday afternoon at the ballpark. Until then, see ya at the park! P.S. Next stop: Yankee Stadium! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Hot in Philly

Well, what was to be a day of blogging on the road, turned into a day of being hot and trying not to pass out. It was so hot in Philly, that I didn't do anything but try to stay cool -- many bottles of water and ice cream is what done the trick.  I wanted to mobile blog from the game, but I only posted two pictures and then called it a day. My Blackberry also became so hot, that I just put it away and went to shelter at the Hall of Fame wing to stay cool. Not a good day -- sun-burn, red and hot.  Until then, see ya at the park!

Mets Need Help

This season was the Mets until they took a steep nose dive with injuries, no team chemistry and players under performing. They need help and they need it fast. The Yankees mean while are neck-and-neck with the Red Sox for first place in the AL East. This scribe is surprised but way to go. As I get used to Mobile Blogging on my Blackberry, it makes it much easier to write from anywhere. Until then, see ya at the park! Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
